An Apple a day keeps the doctor away…the old adage is almost true! Apples are really healthy and good for you but I would recommend also eating other foods as well, just to be sure the doctor stays away. Apples contain a lot of vitamin C which works hand in hand with the antioxidant flavonoids they contain. These flavonoids have been shown to reduce some types of cancer as well as reducing the risk of heart disease, when these flavonoids are combined with vitamin C their effects are increased. Apples also contain a lot of fiber which helps things along in the stomach department and also gives apples quite a detoxifying effect. If you are looking for a wake up boost in the morning some say the crunch of an apple is much better than a cup of coffee!
